Born in Northwest Louisiana on a farm that was located across the street from a large lake, Jon was immersed into the outdoors at birth. Growing up taking care of farm animals and growing vegetables with his family engrained an understanding of quality ingredients that would be more important than he realized at the time. When he had free time, he spent it out walking in the woods or sitting on his canoe out between the cypress trees fishing on the lake across the street. Instead of a neighborhood full of kids to play with he had a lake on one side and a few hundred acres on the other to fill the childhood memories and create a passion for the outdoors.
He started hunting small game at a young age and was fishing solo in his canoe by the age of 9. It was where he felt at peace. That passion continued through life and now he is a Chef Instructor and Hunting guide and continues to spend all his free time hunting and fishing. French trained in culinary, Cajun born, Texas raised and continues to reside in the heart of Texas. His main hobby is night hunting wild pigs throughout the state of Texas with thermal optics but when it comes time for fishing it is a strong 2nd.
